Supported by BLUE WORLD and Wilderlab and as part if Science Week - the 2025 Valerie Taylor Ocean Prize winners were announced at the Australian National Maritime Museum. Gamay Ranger, April Allende received the welldeserved Prize for excellence in marine research.
The aim of Valerie Taylor Ocean Prizes is to; make direct impact on ocean protection and restoration and/or interest, inform and activate our communities to protect and care for our ocean. This includes NSW marine and harbour ecosystems, marine species, coastal habitats and seabirds.
Whilst working with the Gamay Rangers, April is also completing a Bachelor of Wildlife Conservation at the University of Sydney.
